Senior VAT Specialist (12 month contract)

We are seeking an experienced Senior VAT Specialist to join our tax team, playing a crucial role in managing VAT-related processes across multiple regions, including the UK, UAE, KSA, Singapore, and Ireland. This role will involve supporting both VAT compliance and tax-related tasks, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of submissions and reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a deep understanding of VAT regulations, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the VAT team in submitting final VAT returns for various jurisdictions, including the UK, UAE, KSA, Singapore, and Ireland.
  • Provide support for international remote working processes, ensuring deadlines are met in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with the team leader and support other tax-related tasks, ensuring smooth operation of the tax function.
  • Ensure weekly, monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc reports are prepared accurately and on schedule.
  • Offer support to team leaders, finance managers, and accounts payable (AP) teams to ensure VAT compliance and correctness.
  • Maintain high-quality process documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Act as a backup to the Tax Advisor, coordinating processes between team members and supporting overall team efficiency.

Requirements and Skills:

  • 2-5+ years of professional experience, preferably in a Shared Service or Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) environment.
  • In-depth understanding of VAT rules, compliance, and reporting requirements.
  • Complex and broad VAT knowledge; familiarity with Withholding Tax (WHT) is an advantage.
  • Customer-focused with a strong service orientation, delivering high-quality support to internal stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work.
  • Strong ability to understand and manage complex tax matters.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Flexible, with the ability to adapt to changing tasks and priorities.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant degree in accounting, finance, or tax is preferred.
  • Proficiency in tax regulations and VAT-specific rules in international contexts.
  • Experience with tax software and ERP systems is an advantage.
  • Fluent in English, with strong communication skills to facilitate effective collaboration across teams.
